If I purchase the Digital Package, why should I pay for the Wedding Book?
You don't have to is the short answer. All our packages come with a high and low resolution DVD and print license as standard. Wedding Books are part of the wedding book package or can be part of the combination package - see our
wedding packages page for more details. So, why should I pay for a Wedding Book when I have just ordered my Digital Package? I am not one of these photographers that does a hard sales pitch with my clients, I know many that are, this is not me. However here are the facts - firstly if you opt for the wedding book package you get a stunning hard-backed proof book that holds all the images taken throughout the day - this is yours to keep and is a beautiful memento of your special day. Secondly, if you have the knowledge and ability of producing a wedding book deserving of your wedding and have the energy, enthusiasm and inclination, then just purchase the disc. Creating a wedding book is a skill in its own right, that I have learned over a number of years; indeed, wedding books take a great deal of time and skill to design, construct and print. That is why they cost so much. Many people think they can be created easily in hours with an on-line package. What people do underestimate is the amount of work that goes into creating such a wedding book, and believe they will 'do it themselves' - two years later, no wedding book. All of our wedding books are trade only, extremely high quality using the best materials and capable of lasting a lifetime. Digital enhancements are included in the price of the album. Many of our clients regard the disc as simply their long term memento of their wedding images, to share with their friends on Facebook and print the odd image for their parents. They leave the rest up to me - our wedding books are stunning and when you see them you will understand why they are worth it.
Take a look for yourself!
Is there anything you can do to make things run smoother during the day?
Yes! A surprising amount actually?
- Your Best Man (or other designated person) would be very useful to me if I can call on him/her to help me (with the group pictures) . They are more likely to know your friends and family than I am.
- I tend to shoot from the rear for ceremonies as I get better results overall. However if you want frontal photographs during the service (if they are allowed - find out!) I will need a space somewhere near the front, but not too far to the side.
- If your wedding is in a very busy or city centre location, reserve me a car parking space close by.
- Believe me, time flies when you are having fun and the same applies for your wedding, so be prepared to not over-run too much. Plan on everything taking longer than you think. I would hate to miss important shots. For example, we will agree a time when I need to leave for the ceremony venue and if your hair/make up is still only half done, you will miss out on some gorgeous images. Working to an estimated schedule also makes things a lot more relaxed for you.
- Give me a heads up if there are family 'politics', such as people who refuse to be photographed side-by-side etc.
- Talk to your registrar/officiator/venue beforehand to see if they have any restrictions on photography (and/or flash photography) during the ceremony. Also find out if the venue has a policy on confetti - amazingly some can be very strict!
- Keep (or even send me) an invitation. They can look very nice as an introduction to the album, or as a background for the rings detail shot.
- Inform us if you will use a videographer on the day, and also their name/website details.
If I purchase the Digital Package, why should I pay for extra prints and frames?
Another excellent question. It is not necessary to is the short answer. However, I still sell a considerable number of top quality prints to clients because my prints look very different to what the majority of people are used to. I use a perfectly calibrated monitor. The images will be prepared and manipulated specifically to your print output e.g. the eventual size of the print. I have a business partnership with a professional only lab that take exceptional care and ensure that what I see is exactly what I get on print. All our prints have the best lustre and quality. Another important point to mention especially for weddings is that the print longevity is maximised - they will still look excellent in years to come. Unfortunately, my lab charge accordingly. All of these points above makes for prints that far exceed the quality capable by your local supermarket minilab. Having said that we try to keep our prices competitive hence our print prices are very good - e.g. a 8x6 inch print is £12 and a 12x8 is £25. I also offer framed prints in traditional handcrafted wood or more modern acrylics, alternatively we can offer the ever popular canvas wraps.
See enclosed our range of frames on our sister site jmc-photography.
Will you we be able to show your guests the images from your wedding on-line?
The answer is YES of course you can. Once I have finished editing all your images I will host all your images up on my website for your guests to view and even purchase prints or framed prints if they so wish. In addition as part of all the packages we supply you with 50 thank-you cards to send to your guests after the wedding. You choose your favourite image which goes on the front cover on the back cover of the card we place the URL where your guests can view your images on-line. Please feel free to take a look at other clients weddings by going to our
on-line album site
How long will it take for my wedding book to be produced?
The hardest part of any
wedding book is actually on you trying to whittle down your 300-400 images to between 50 - 80 images to go into your wedding book. If you really struggle to get your image numbers down we can always add extra pages - so do not panic! Once you have made your final decisions I will design an initial wedding book for you to look at. From there we will make any alterations e.g. moving images around, switching an image from colour to black & white. Once you are completely happy with the book, you will receive a final PDF from me that you sign off on and only then will it go to print. Printing of the wedding book takes approximately 25 working days.
Can we make printed copies of our images for our family/friends or post our images on to our Facebook page?
This is where legalities come in. Under UK law the Photographer (i.e. jmc-weddings) is the legal holder of the copyright of any images that are created during your wedding for which a fee has been paid. Therefore what this means is it is illegal for you to copy or allow to be copied any of the images without prior approval/permission by the Photographer.
However as I offer my high and low resolution images as part of my Digital Package, these images come with an authorisation licence to print or make copies for your friends and family. If you do however place them up on a Social Networking site like Facebook, all I ask is that you include a credit to jmc-weddings when you post them
When do I pay the Booking Fee and the final balance?
As with any professional wedding photographer a non-refundable booking fee is payable when you decide to book jmc-wedding to photograph your wedding. Once the booking fee is paid and the contract is signed by the bride and groom I then assign your wedding date in my diary. The booking fee is 25% of the wedding package you opt for. I do tentatively pencil in dates when I have a meeting with a client but until the deposit is paid - it is very much a 'first come first serve' basis
The remaining final balance is payable 14 days before your wedding. Any additional extras such as wedding books or upgrades are paid for at the point of ordering
How far will you travel?
I am based in Wokingham, Berkshire, but typically cover London and the Home Counties. Weddings taking place over 50 miles away may incur a small cost and those further away may incur an additional overnight accommodation cost. However this is something we can discuss at the wedding meeting. I have done a few destination weddings abroad which are always amazing - these are discussed on an individual basis within the wedding meeting.
We love your pictures, but will we get along?
May sound a stupid question, but actually it is an vital one. It is important for you to get along with your photographer as you will be spending most of the day with them. No one wants a grumpy photographer that will dominate the proceedings and make your special day a misery. Please visit the
About Us page to understand a little bit more about myself, Jamie McPhilimey. It would be great to meet up and you can gauge for yourself if you think we would get along.
